June 16, 2014 @ 12:30 pm - 6:00 pm

A full afternoon at Hugh Baird College.  Starting with our opening ceremony with the key address by Rt. Hon. Stephen Hammond. Followed by our roundtable “To weigh or not to weigh’? Then the big debate ‘Is the shipping industry invisible or not?’ Have your say. Make your voice count.

After lunch, WISTA-UK is hosting a full programme of activities on 16th June in conjunction with Hugh Baird College, Liverpool starting with the opening ceremony and key address by The Rt. Hon. Stephen Hammond, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport. He will also present the prizes to the winners of the Came by SHIP photography and essay competitions as well as announcing the WISTA-UK Personality of the Year for 2014.

WISTA-UK will also be launching a new children’s story book “Triton the tug and his friends the boats”.

The afternoon Round Table will discuss “To weigh or not to weigh, that is the question”. Key personalities and leaders of our industry will analyse the danger and the difficulties experienced on a daily basis by freight forwarders, shippers, customs officers and ports due to undeclared weight affecting, among other things, ship stability. Join in the debate.

The Liverpool Shipping Debate is a special event for the IFB with a unique panel. WISTA-UK will present the conclusions from the Grand Annual Debate held earlier this year in London about whether the shipping industry is invisible or not. The Liverpool panel will analyse the conclusions and will pose the same question to a local shipping audience. With video clips and top-class participants this is a “must attend event” and one of the highlights of the Festival. Make sure you have your say and make your voice count.
