The Urban Port in the 21st Century Supply Chain Framework

June 12, 2014 @ 8:30 am - 10:30 am

Focusing on developments that react to and shape the latest changes to the national and global supply chain framework and create logistic solutions clustered around infrastructure development; this panel event will debate what factors are involved in developing the supply chain infrastructure to shape logistics solutions for the 21st Century.  The Panel will consider policy and direction at the European Investment Bank that has led to significant investment in port infrastructure in the last decade; the UK Government Transport Policy; the implications of the latest research and government white papers; the global changes in the shipping industry and the implications of the development of the Panama Canal; and the L2 container terminal being developed at Port of Liverpool (a good case study).  The panellists, with audience direction, will consider the implications of these developments and consider how the supply chain industry can best react to continue to shape the framework in the UK. Can we shape a logistics infrastructure that gives the nation a competitive advantage?

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Gary Hodgson (Group Port Operations Director, Peel Ports)
  • Jonathan Taylor (Vice President and Management Committee Member of the European Investment Bank)
  • Mike Garrett (Managing Director, MDS Transglobal).
