Driver First Assist – a new era in road safety

June 12, 2014 @ 8:30 am - 10:30 am

Road safety remains an important focus in the UK, but many initiatives to reduce road deaths are preventative.  Estimates suggest that 46 per cent of fatalities could be avoided if first aid assistance was available early at the scene of a road traffic collision (RTC).

Driver First Assist, a not-for-profit organisation, seeks to address this problem by providing professional drivers, those most likely to be first-on-scene at a collision, with the skills they need to deal with the incident, from securing the scene, to life-saving first aid.  For many people the road network is a place of work, and by training drivers to deal with incidents on the road, DFA hope to replicate the same sort of commitment that is shown to managing risk in office situations.
